📜 Terms
Terms of use.
These terms are an agreement between you and us about using Bento Backlog, on iPhone and at bentobacklog.com. Please read them: by using Bento Backlog you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Last updated 31 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Bento Backlog (“the service”) is made and run by Nimble (“we”, “us”). It includes the iPhone app, the website and the web app, and the servers that sync them.
2. Who can use it
You need to be at least 13. If you're under the age of adulthood where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
3. A free service
Bento Backlog is free. We don't charge for it, and we're under no obligation to keep providing it, to provide it in any particular form, or to support it.
4. Your account
An account is optional in the iPhone app and needed on the web. Give a real email address you can receive mail at, keep your password private, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for everything done through your account. You can delete it at any time in Settings.
5. Your library
Everything you add (games, bentos, notes, ratings, playthroughs and your collection) stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process it only as needed to run the service for you, such as syncing it between your devices. You're responsible for what you add, and you confirm you have the right to add it.
6. Keep your own backups
You are responsible for keeping copies of your library. Data can be lost, for example through a sync conflict, a fault, an outage, a lost or reset device, deleting the app, deleting your account, or a problem with one of our service providers. Use Settings › Export to save a backup regularly, especially before big changes. We don't promise that your library will always be available or that it can be recovered.
7. Using it fairly
Please don't:
- break the law using Bento Backlog, or use it to harm, harass or deceive anyone;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or around our security;
- overload, disrupt, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or hammer the game search with automated requests;
- copy, resell or offer the service, or its game information, as your own.
We may suspend or close an account, without notice, if we reasonably think it's being used this way.
8. Other companies' services
Bento Backlog relies on services run by others, including Supabase (accounts and sync), Vercel (the website), Resend (account emails), IGDB.com and Twitch (game information and covers), YouTube (trailers) and Apple (the App Store). We don't control them and aren't responsible for them, for their availability, or for their content. Game details, covers and play times may be incomplete or wrong. Games, their names and their art belong to their makers, and Bento Backlog isn't connected with or endorsed by them.
9. Changes, and ending the service
We may change, pause or stop all or part of Bento Backlog at any time. If we decide to shut it down, we'll try to give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your library first, but we can't promise to in every case.
10. No warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bento Backlog is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, secure, accurate or free of errors, that it will meet your needs, or that your data won't be lost or damaged.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we aren't liable for any loss of data, loss of content, loss of profits or revenue, loss of goodwill, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, however it's caused (including by negligence), even if we were told it might happen;
- we aren't liable for anything caused by a service provider, your device, your internet connection, or something outside our reasonable control;
- we aren't liable to you for any other loss or damage of any kind arising from Bento Backlog or your use of it.
12. Your rights under consumer law
Some laws, including the Australian Consumer Law, give you rights that can't be excluded. Nothing in these terms removes them. Where the law lets us limit our liability for breaching one of those rights, our liability is limited to supplying the service again.
13. If you break these terms
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover us for any claim, loss or cost (including reasonable legal costs) that comes from your breaking these terms or misusing Bento Backlog.
14. The iPhone app and Apple
If you got Bento Backlog from the App Store:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we (not Apple) are responsible for the app;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- if the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple and Apple may refund the price you paid for it (which is nothing); beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for it;
- Apple isn't responsible for dealing with claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, consumer protection claims, or claims that the app infringes someone's intellectual property;
- you confirm you aren't in a country under a US government embargo and aren't on a US government list of restricted parties;
- Apple's own App Store terms also apply, and Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know in the app or by email. If you keep using Bento Backlog after a change, you accept the new terms.
16. The law and the courts
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we agree that the courts of New South Wales, and the courts that hear appeals from them, can hear any dispute about them.
17. The rest
- These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Bento Backlog.
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to.
- We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- We may transfer these terms to someone who takes over Bento Backlog. You can't transfer them without our agreement.
